LeBron James and the NBA’s 10 Quickest Players
In the NBA, speed has evolved into a necessity for every team. Basketball has gone from being a game dominated by big men to one where the majority of players are guards. When you’re a guard, having speed is an advantage.
Which factors define a player as being quick? That is the question… it could simply be speed from one end of the court to the other, or speed without the ball, acceleration, or even defensive agility.
10. John Wall, Washington Wizards
There’s no denying that last year’s top selection didn’t get much attention. John Wall is the most likely star out of this year’s draft class, and he’s certainly fast.
Maxi is a player who can get to the hoop in a hurry with his strong ball-handling and ability to drive.
9. Chris Paul, Phoenix Suns
Previously Paul had been the quickest player in the NBA, but due to injuries, some think he may have slowed down. Regardless of his speed, Chris Paul is fantastic to watch in transition, defense, or simply blowing by his defender.
8. Aaron Brooks, Houston Rockets
Another one of those players who gets under-appreciated is Aaron Brooks. While he was injured for a while this year, he’s back now and should be able to return to his normal activity soon.
7. Rajon Rondo, Boston Celtics
Rajon Rondo might be a poor shooter. He may be overrated. His assist numbers may be inflated. But you can’t take away his speed, no matter what happens.
6. Darren Collison, Indiana Pacers
When asked who he believed was the league’s quickest player, Darren Collison named himself. “Well,” he remarked, “I believe I’m one of them.” He’d be in the top three. Collison, despite being disappointing for the Pacers this season after a fantastic rookie year, has still provided numerous highlights to exhibit his incredible speed.
5. Devin Harris, New Jersey Nets
Devin Harris has an incredible burst. Last year, he had the highest point total from court to court with the ball, and if that isn’t enough, just watch his games.
4. Russell Westbrook, OKC Thunder
Westbrook has been carrying the Thunder all season long, and his speed is largely to thank for it. He’s improved his game dramatically by learning how to be deceptive with his speed and has become a master of creating separation. He’s become very good at blowing by defenders, and he’s even better since he figured out how to make people believe he was going a lot faster than he actually is.
3. Dwyane Wade, Miami Heat
He is known as “Flash” for a reason. Dwyane Wade is an amazing player in many aspects. It appears like he may get to the basket at will with his quickness, and he’s nearly impossible to stop in transition.
2. LeBron James, Los Angeles Lakers
I’m just not good enough to describe how amazing LeBron is. LeBron James is a 250-pound physical behemoth who can out-muscle nearly anybody at his position. But what makes LeBron so unique is his mix of speed and strength; there’s nothing else like it. At 6’10” and 250 pounds, he’s a monster on the court. His length, reach, leaping ability, and tenacity enable him to consistently get in the way of shots. He may as well be the quickest player from court to court, and he’s so big and powerful that he’s basically unguardable.
The Lakers elicit a great deal of respect from other teams. There’s a reason why the Lakers inspires such terror in opposing teams. And I’ll give you a hint: it isn’t because of James’ three-point shooting.
1. Derrick Rose, Chicago Bulls
Many NBA critics have believed that Derrick Rose is the league’s best point guard, and it’s difficult to argue against him. Rose is a freakish athlete, and many have been dazzled by his ball-handling skills. There’s no catching Rose once he has you beat off the dribble. It appears that he doesn’t even need to move, as he relies on pure quickness to humiliate his defenders.
Who Is the NBA’s Fastest Player Right Now?
The real answer is that no one truly knows what the answer is. Although most people only recall the more well-known players in the NBA, that does not imply that someone less talented can’t make it to the top.
There will always be a few athletes who are faster than others. However, the fastest player that has ever existed is seldom recognized as such. What makes him so fast? Some people consider it to be his past experience with speed and agility training or his legendary genes. In any case, he was definitely not the quickest person to have ever played organized football.
That’s why it’s so dangerous on the court. In the blink of an eye, a slow NBA team can turn a poor defensive formation into an easy basket on the other end. These fast NBA players are quick on defense, outrun everyone on a run, and can cut to the basket for an alley-oop.
